May 13 – 16, 2010
The 19th Annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research - CAHR 2010 - will be held in Saskatoon to focus attention on the changing face of HIV/AIDS in this country.
The theme of “New Challenges, New Commitments” reflects this new direction. The epidemic never ceases to surprise us, and we are constantly seeking evidence-based approaches to help the men, women and children infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS around us. This year, we pay special attention to the explosive spread of infection in the Aboriginal community across the Prairies.
Once again, CAHR will have a stellar program of world-renowned speakers including Nobel Prize winner Dr. Barré-Sinoussi, Dr. Mark Tyndall (Epidemiology and Public Health Plenary Speaker), Dr. Janice Ristock and Randy Jackson (Social Sciences Plenary Speakers), and Dr. Michael Worobey (Basic Sciences Plenary Speaker). Connect with researchers, frontline public health and community-based workers, people living with HIV and AIDS and others interested in the field of HIV research in Saskatoon, SK for CAHR 2010.
Located at TCU Place (Saskatoon's Arts and Convention Centre) from Thursday, May 13th to Sunday, May 16th, CAHR members and guests will meet to share the outcomes of CAHR members’ work; to honour new investigators and to acknowledge the achievements of major contributors to the field; to discuss some of the wider issues related to the HIV/AIDS pandemic; and to elect a Council to carry on the work of the Association.
Experience Saskatoon
Saskatoon, with its growing population of 230,000, has virtually no traffic of which to speak. This allows for quick access to Saskatchewan’s largest city which offers a rich 6,000 year history and a diverse cultural experience.
A young, vibrant, intelligent and entrepreneurial demographic is energizing this city with exciting new things to see and do. Well supported by a long heritage of know-how and innovation, Saskatoon celebrates its rich culture, through a continuous line-up of festivals, events, performing arts, and a fine selection of crafts and fine art throughout the year.
It’s no wonder – with its publicly accessible, naturally beautiful riverbank and breathtaking views of the infamously historic bridges - why Saskatoon has become such a fun cosmopolitan place and an ideal location to host the CAHR 2010 Conference.
